Although I have posted on blogs before for college classes, this will be my first professional blog. I'm at a loss for a fun name so until I have one, "Alison LeSueur" is it.
This blog was created to participate in the DPS Technology Challenge Summer 2011. I'm participating because the writing is on the wall - librarianship is now about technology! We must be leaders in 21st Century Learning within our schools or risk being made obsolete. Besides, I love to play with Web 2.0 tools but have not yet successfully transferred their use to teaching and learning. So the challenge for me will be to share the tools I've already tried, try some new ones and build the use of those tools into real lessons!

Looking good, Alison!
Thanks Jerry. I actually had to do some html coding in order to the the bold fonts. I tried to figure out how to make the posting background more opaque but bolding the fonts turned out to be easier.
I am impressed with your knowledge, intellect, creativity and enthusiasm. Having graduated from college in 1984, I have only relied on my Macbook to create units, PowerPoints and iMovies. After checking our Web 2.0 I realize just how oblivious I am!
I look forward to following you, when I actually learn how. Thank you kindly for sharing ideas so that I can provide my kids the tools they need. (Now we just need to get functioning computers in all classrooms!)
Nice blog, this is also the first time I have used a blog. Hoping this post happens
Jeni, I graduated from college in 1981 but I think I've stayed on top of technology partly because I worked in the computer industry in the 1980s and tried to keep up. I'm so old I remember the first word processors. Because I was a working in the printing business at the time, I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced toast. It led to me getting into the office automation industry. Just get out and play with the tools, you will find trial and error to a learning tool.
I remember having nightmares about dropping the hole-punched cards when traveling to the computer ROOM! You really inspired me to explore. Despite the pain in my shoulder from the mouse moves, I learned so much the past few days. Please check out my blog (Jeanette Foote) and share feedback.
Given our limited technology at Club, I would love to hear ideas about how people don't let that thwart them from using tech tools.
Hope you enjoyed your time in the mountains with your family.
Jeni
